Link for the Lazy: Pandora.com

Pandora provides an excellent service to the music community. You type in an artist (or song, to a lesser extent) that you are particularly fond of, and it plays music from that artist and music from similar artists. You can give their automated suggests  or  to refine Pandora's search and match criteria.

If you haven't tried it out, I definitely suggest doing so before web radio is extinct.

Pandora is awesome. I used it for a long time before they banned it in countries outside the US.

So enjoy it while it lasts, you lucky Americans.

Odd, it's normally the reverse:

Banned in the US, enjoyed elsewhere.

Eh, it was nice when I wanted random music, not the same 3 songs over and over with commercials like the normal radio. But its music matching system was without fail pretty bad... I'd put in tool and it would play like 80s hair metal and such, and it was similarly off for just about everything. When I put in Cherry Poppin Daddies (nu-swing) it started playing Christmas music  Overall I'll stick to my local collection.

that's funny I actually just used it the first time ever, typed in Tool, and its playing Tool - H.
Now system of a down - sounds similar to H. heh

You have to give it more feedback. Pandora 'learns' your tastes but it needs to know what you like first and for that it needs a lot of :thumbsup:s and :thumbsdown:s before it really gets a grip on what you really like. Telling it you like Tool is not enough.

After a few weeks my Pandora account was so accurate regarding my tastes that it was almost eerie. :Q

I had a cool experience with it. After several months of listening to my Mystikal rap station, I have discovered that I prefer rap music with tons and tons of profanity. It's true, but I had never realized it before.

I have been a member their since it's inception. They are really nice ppl running that site. They are getting screwed with the new payment schedule. We worked really hard for it not to happen, but the government did not listen.

:( They probably wont be around much longer.

I miss Pandora. I cried the day they made it US-only.

I never realized that it was made US only. Why did they do that?

Something with the way their internet radio licence is worded. They always said it was a US only site, but they recently started geolocating your IP address and blocking you if you were not from the US.

Sad how the Internet is being carved up into the Internets.

So this is legal in the US for now? RIAA's not going to take me away in the night for registering with the service, correct?

Yes it legal, but as Safeway said, enjoy it while it lasts. Freaking government.
