I pay $149.00 for 24mb internet and 300 channels. I'm dropping it down to 100 channels at the end of this month.

It sounds like you are using some sort of hdtv antenna... but have you heard of the coat hanger antenna? I built one and it works fabulously. It is this:

I built mine using copper wire, screws, and washers from the hardware store. Only cost about $30 bucks but you could do it alot less if you had some of the parts already. No more messing with rabbit ears for me.

Yeah, I have a Silver Sensor:

Picks up UHF really well but only high VHF (barely picks up 11).

An attic antenna would be perfect but I don't want to mess too much with the house since we're renting it. And it just seems like a pain in the ass. But it would clean things up nicely. We do have a north-facing window in the attic, and all the broadcast towers are to the north.

Hmmm. It looks like the coat hanger is using basically the same design as your antenna. I have the same problem as well, IIRC, the coat hanger is better suited to UHF rather than VHF.

I was thinking of getting a set of bunny ears and just hooking it up alongside the existing antenna using a coax diplexer (apparently you need a diplexer and not a simple splitter for this to work). All I'd need to do is get bunny ears since I already have the required cables and a diplexer.

That's a good idea. Might have to try that. The bit about the diplexer is interesting.
