I see some of the PC bugs still remain from the original game. Remastered my ass....I think they just redid a few textures and called it done. Mouse sensitivity is all over the place.

Too bad I bought them on disc because I like to have the physical game when possible. Can't get the remastered ones that way, gotta buy it.

You can, but it's not simple. The blog post says that you need to e-mail some proof of purchase to 2K's support, and they'll give you a key.

I bought these games when they were pretty fresh and never played much of them, so looking forward to the remaster as a new game.

I wonder what would qualify as proof of purchase. I don't have a receipt after so many years lol. They could deny it if I send a picture of the box and upc or the disc because that doesn't prove I bought the game legit like. Hmm

I thought this would happen. Seems to be the trend of issuing "remastered" versions not to improve them but to turn 9 year old £2.50 Steam Sale games back into 9 year old +£14 games... Nearly all the problems people are commenting on (mouse acceleration, 30fps physics lock, key rebindings being lost after a crash, unskippable intro logos) have long been fixable in the originals via .ini tweaks or patches. Meanwhile a load of new bugs introduced include : increased crashes, audio skipping over/repeating itself, lighting glitches, missing walls that flicker in and out according to view angle, controller mode randomly activating when no controller is present, etc, plus there's no DRM-free remastered version of Bioshock 1 on Humble. Only thing that's better are the textures, and that's only a very marginal "better" that's pretty weak compared to what modding communities churn out for free for games of the same age (Oblivion, etc).

Apparently they didn't fix the FOV issue.

Or the mouse acceleration...I play with an xbox 360 controller, so doesn't impact me, but people are going nuts over this.

if you have Bioshock 2 on disc and the booklet with the game code you can download the game for free from steam.

Thats pretty cool. I own the original BioShock boxed version that I bought at release. I may try that just to get a free updated version of the game. I had no idea this could be done. Thanks!

Well you have to own all 3 games to get the remasters of 1 and 2. You will not be able to get the remaster of say 1 if you only have 1

Played the first game a little bit but lost interest as soon as I had to wrap my head around those stupid vending machines. I never figured out those damn vending machines.

That statement cannot be true. I do not have bioshock 2. I have the remastered version of bioshock 1.

If you own physical copies, or Games for Windows Live versions, there’s still hope for you. For Bioshock the First, you’ll need to send a ticket in to 2K Support and submit your Steam profile details and proof that you purchased the original game.

Those with non-Steam copies of Bioshock 2 have it a bit easier. Just activate the Games for Windows Live key that came with the physical or digital edition within Steam.

So it would seem I am out of luck as I bought my game at release at gamestop and there is no way I have a receipt laying around. No biggie I don't think I would have played it anyway.

Just for fun I loaded up the original. Good stuff. Forgot how awesome it is.
Downloading the Remaster now, even though everyone on Steam says its a mess.

Are we ever getting a new System Shock?

OK, the textures look slightly better, the lighting effects are better and make the game even more immersive.
The UI and menus are exactly the same. Gameplay is exactly the same. Music doesnt sound any better to me, and I'm playing on a home theater system.
Sound effects might be a bit sharper, but its not noticeable.

Theres a museum mode, and 3 challenges which can be run even if you havent played the main game at all.

Nothing special here.
If you can get it free and really want to play it again, go ahead and download.
If you have to pay, dont bother. Its not worth 20 bucks.

Oh, Alt-Tab works fine, if thats a concern for anyone.

Ahh good to know, as from all the news seems to indicate that you can only get it if you previously had all 3

I redeemed bioshock 2 on steam using my gfwl code. I have contacted 2k support via their website to see if I can get the remastered version of the first game. I did not have a receipt but I sent pictures of my game disc, the registration code, and the upc on the box. I will update everyone on whether or not this is enough to qualify for the remaster upgrade in case you are curious.

Was looking forward to this..but meh, oh well. Should have known they would cut corners just so they could charge $50 for the 3.

I did this with my physical copy last year. The download from steam was 8GB.

When I checked my steam account yesterday it shows me that I now have the remastered version.

I am waiting on support for my Bioshock 1 as the physical copy dvd key is not accepted on steam.

I only have Bioshock 2 on Steam, and the remaster appeared in my Steam library automatically. Basically you get a free upgrade for whatever game you had, except for Infinite which doesn't appear to have a PC remaster. You keep your old version, too.

Based on the negative feedback I'll be sticking to the original games. I skipped the Dead Island remasters for the same reason. I expect remasters to fix old bugs as well, not keep them and add new ones.

I rarely bother with remasters anyway, but Serious Sam HD was an example of a good remaster. The graphics were a major upgrade, there were no significant bugs, and it integrated the 1st & 2nd encounters along with the new DLC into one nice package.

They said that Bioshock Infinite is up to their standards on the PC in terms of what they set out to do with the remastered editions. It didn't need an upgrade.

Much lies, such misinformation, all disappoint.
I misread what the announcement said and had kept thinking that you only get the remasters if you owned all three but you will get the remastered version of what ever one you own, so I stand corrected
