This news was discussed during the Steam summer sale thread, but in case you missed it:

http://steamcommunity.com/games/8850/announcements/detail/606114300066920422

If you already own Bioshock and/or Bioshock 2 Steam versions, you get the remastered editions FREE on 9/15/16.

Remastered editions include Steam Achievements if that's your thing.

I was just a few hours into my first play of Bioshock (and loving it) when the announcement was made, so I shelved it and just waited for the new versions. Looking forward to picking it back up....

I really liked the first Bioshock though the port was terrible, I had to bind a key and constantly press it every time I loaded the game or got out of a cut scene to increase the FOV back to 90 degrees.

I've played I think a quarter of number two, for whatever reason I felt the game was a grind and stopped playing it, I think I will try again and see if I can get through it this time.

I played through the original Bioshock countless times and had a FAQ written for GameFAQs regarding the extra Little Sisters glitches, but they would never accept the FAQ. I really hope they don't fix the glitches in the remaster version as I loved fighting Big Daddys and having extra ones to fight in the starting levels when you barely have enough ammo to take down one was always fun.

For some reason, I never got around to playing the original Bioshock (I actually owned it the whole time too...), but I got into and enjoyed Infinite. I avoided playing the Rapture-based DLCs for Infinite as I thought they'd be more enjoyable if I playing the first Bioshock. Although, I admit that I'm a bit spoiled by the increased graphical fidelity in Infinite, and I'm glad that we're getting a bit of polish, so that won't be constantly on my mind.

In the same boat. Played the original very little on the XB360 and picked it up for the PC. Have two copies over 2 for some reason, but only opened one for the Steam key. However, really like Infinite and actually beat it, but never tried the DLC. With the updates, I'm looking forward to actually giving them a shot.

Bought the orginal 360 version at launch. Felt the devs didn't deliver the hype that was promised. (Spiritual successor to system shock 2)

Played about half way and quit.

I really liked the first Bioshock, didn't play the second one, Infinite was decent. Good twist in the first game too.

cool, this might inspire me to go back and finish the first one for once (well, I'd be starting over because it's been....6 years since I stopped for some reason?) and maybe install the 2nd one for once (damn steam)

Visually and artistically the original was grand. Gameplay though was not so great. I never really enjoyed the game but I think it is cool they are releasing the re-mastered version. I look forward to seeing the gameplay videos.

Steam will start adding the revamped game (as a separate game) to your library at 3PM PST as per the blog post. I don't see anything about save files though.

Too bad I bought them on disc because I like to have the physical game when possible. Can't get the remastered ones that way, gotta buy it.

Wow nice. One of the greatest looking games of all time. The artwork is unreal.
