Its because they have no choice. You set that next to some real food, and they'll gladly eat the real food instead.

I remember an interview with someone on GMA.. their profession was a "pet food taste tester".

If they can eat it, we can eat it... lol. Nothing wrong with it, really. Just doesn't taste/smell very good.

Isn't pet food made of low grade meat though?

That hasn't been my experience. With the exception of sliced ham, she just pushes most cooked meats around for a bit before discarding them. And every night she begs for the wet food, I feed her dry food first and then she'll ignore it and meow at me when she realizes I'm opening the can. She loves that shit.
