Let me premise this post by saying that I am in no way affiliated with my University's IT dept.
It's clear that the first few weeks are arguably the toughest time in a semester for a work-study student who is making a little more than minimum wage. Not only are they dealing with the influx of freshmen who come into the University (Uni) with dreams of downloading gigabytes (dare I even say terrabytes?) of "stuff" while on the Uni's bandwith while being confronted with the harsh realization that some Uni's choose to grossly limit their bandwith per student but they also have to deal with setting up student's accounts. These accounts vary by Uni but are generally a space on a server that one is given to store documents that may be accessed from anywhere on campus. With these accounts also come university-wide e-mail access and just general headaches that you cause by being a student. It's not your fault nor is it the work-study students but some compassion should be shown toward the latter group since they have to put up with your complaints and problems. Don't abuse them because, "Hey, they chose to whore themselves out to the-man!" Have some simple respect for your fellow man.
To the work-study folk that do this, I say "Thank you!"
End of transmission.
