Be careful when you use it, I got a ticket for a standing in a bus stop last year January. I decided to give it a try since they say they take half your money if you win, but refund your ticket if you lose.
but here's my story, i do as they have instructed after paying them 55 bucks (half of the ticket). then I sent my letter. i waited 12 whole months before receiving a letter from NYC Finance saying I was guilty and I had to pay. So I went to their site again, they require you to go to the appeal process, this time printing the appeal letter, when you appeal, you have to pay the city a check of the full ticket penalty plus 10 bucks administrative fee for a total of 125 dollars. I received an appeal decision, the city still says I'm in the wrong (which I don't disagree, but the cop didn't hand me the summons when I pleaded with him and got back into the car, he was supposed to hand it to me and not leave it at the windsheild when the operator is present, but anywho)
so fine, i go and file my refund. here's what they want from me via fax ONLY, not via email, snail mail or phone call: copy of the original ticket, copy of your registration, copy of the original parkingticket.com letter, copy of the appeal letter, any evidence you provided, the city's guilty determination and the appeal determination.
WTF!!! so fine, in the "my ticket" area, i thought I could reprint the letter that THEY had written for me, but no. it's gone. I emailed them for a copy, the rep said they don't have it and that I should've made extra copies!!!
I've beaten 5 out of 7 parking/moving violations on my own, Suffice it to say, this is plain stupid, make sure when you use them, that you document and make copies of everything and never assume they will keep the letters in your acount! so now most likely I am out 180 dollars for this 115 dollar ticket.
cliffs:
1) got ticket, pretty much guilty but i thought it may worth a shot
2) used parkingticket.com to see if i can get half off the ticket
3) city says guilty. parkingticket.com requires you to appeal
4) city says guilty still. parkingticket.com requires a bunch of documents to file for refund via fax only
5) the original letter that they got me, somehow mysteriously disappeared and rep said they dont have the obligation to keep it
6) ...
7) Profit!!! for them...
