So I saw this movie was on Netflix and started watching it. 2mins in I could tell something was off. It looked like it was made in the 80s. I checked the release date and it was 2011. I figured it was a sci-fi action flick so might was well keep going. After watching it for about 30min, fast forwarding a bit, I realized it was utter crap. I checked online I realized I was expecting Battle:LA. Not sure if the people at Netflix was fooled or they thought people would actual want to watch such a crappy movie. :colbert:

Every time I see a thread with Battle of Los Angeles in the title, I immediately think about Rage Against the Machine.

This thread is now about Rage Against the Machine.

The movie was okay, since it derived on a concept that
water was able to be utilized as a fuel source
. It's a nice sci-fi concept though.

I mainly watched it at the theater to hope for memorable places of SoCal and see the action. Was slightly disappointed, aside from the plot at the apartment complex area, I didn't see any notable LA structures at all.

Wrong movie.

Looks like audio soundtrack demo material. Should be etertaining after a couple beers and high levels of volume.

Yeah, I saw that on netflix under new releases. I almost started to watch it when I read some reviews and realized this was not Battle:LA.

I saw that on Netflix, knew what it was immediately.

A lot of low budget sci-fi movies are released with similar names to big budget films. It's easy to ride the coattails of a major movie.

There was an event during World War II that inspired the name, though:

I think they probably knew, especially if they named it correctly. The timing of the video release and the fact that the movie was a complete knock off of Battle:LA was kind of ballsy by Asylum studios, but IIRC it still did awful in sales.

Doh. I didn't catch that part. I heard so many negative comments about the "real" Battle for LA that I assumed the OP was talking about the new one.

They make knock-off movies like this all the time to confuse people into renting/watching them. And yes, they are always horrible.

Didn't bother with it. I have a little bit of faith in reviews and use them to my advantage to avoid the turds.

You didn't think to read the reviews or movie summary first?

Okay, smart guy. :p

With a little reading, you'll see that there's a movie that hit theaters that's on Netflix disc-only called Battle: Los Angeles.

Then there's a SciFy 'original' made-for-tv-movie on there called Battle For Los Angeles.

That's the thing though, it doesn't make sense for Netflix to carry it. Why waste bandwidth with poeple trying to watch it and then realizing it's not what they expected. Netflix is not charging per rental.

That was quick. It is not a good movie, but certainly not bad. If you guys are complaining about it, you obviously have not seen very many Sci-Fi Original Movies.
