Just a PSA when it comes to Apple; the first gen product is not one to get. If you are interested in it, let the fanbois eat it up first and buy second gen.

iPod - Apple cut price and added Windows support
iPhone - 2G only, cut price (not to mention the subsidy)
iPad - 256 MB ram, became obsolete quickly
Macbook Air - 2nd gen can run the latest version of OSX while 1st gen can only run 10.7

Is it not common knowledge already?

By nature, guinea pigs have a rather low intellect. ;)

It's as if companies start out with the final version of anything they will ever make.

All true, but no product update has the same allure and awe as a 1st gen product.

Choose your poison.

Jeez, why don't we be sensible and wait for the actual RELEASE? Nevermind the feedback from reviews and early adopters...

If every 1gen is always shot down, why even bother?

As someone who has 2 Android Wear devices, I can bet you Apple's going to roll out something more polished than Android Wear. 1st generation devices may be test devices, but Apple does a far better job than Google in terms of getting a Beta product that actually works.

Apple's first gen is like Android's 10th gen. I'll pick up an Apple Watch when they come out. But thanks for worthless "PSA."

This is the same for ANY product.

True. It's a little known fact, but the Wright brothers invented transwarp drives long before they cobbled together that silly little kite they called an aeroplane.

You only have to look at Apple's track record to see that this isn't the case.

Besides cutting the price, the one thing that's "bad" about the watch is that it's useless without carrying an iphone as well. I imagine that will be fixed in a later version.

It really should be:
PSA: Everyone buy 1st gen products....
.... so you can work out the bugs when I buy the 2nd gen. :)

Someone has to buy the 1st gen products for there to be a 2nd gen product. So it's not in my favor to NO 1st gen products bought.

Because we know from past experience that the 2nd gen Apple products are always faster, thinner, cheaper, and less buggy.

I think it's fine to buy the first-gen Apple Watch... but think long and hard about splurging on your purchase. You don't want to drop $700 on a really nice model if you know you'll probably want the second gen a year from now. That's a pretty expensive early access plan, but it beats going all-out and regretting it later.

I'm also hoping that nobody outside of Hollywood buys those $10,000+ Gold Apple Watches. The markup on those is insane even by Apple standards.

For that price, people should be getting something like a Rolex that will last a lifetime, and not a toy that will be obsolete in three years.

Oh you guys. LOL
Hey buy it if you like it.
This watch I just think plain ugly and offers nothing Android wear doesn't however.
I can't believe Apple got this so wrong in my opinion. I think what I can't get over it how ugly the thing is(at least we knew this for months but stilll...). It's worrying.

Their shares were fluctuating like mad too. A sell off during the announcement then a bit of a recovery after and down in after hours trading.

Anyway I would never discourage someone from buying an Apple product if that's what they want :D

I see nothing in your examples that would make me not buy the Apple iwatch first generartion.....

Just a PSA, don't post stupid crap in order to appear brilliant.

Anyone with the smarts of an apple, the red kind, will know that gen-2 WILL also have a camera. And ability to Facetime, when linked to an iPhone connection. Can you imagine Facetime on your wrist? Just like 007, your a pretty cool double agent.

But... won't you feel cool, sitting in a Starbucks, and browsing away on a $1200 Apple netbook (because your $600 Apple tablet is old news, thankfully the resale on it so good!), talking to this $600 Apple watch on your wrist, so you don't have to take out the $750 Apple phone in your pocket?

I thought the linked band looked nice, but holy sweet baby Jesus, it's $450! I thought it was strange that they were showing the price for the whole watch, but no... that's just the band. o_O

Hey now, you're not REALLY cool unless you get the $17,000 Rose Gold Apple Watch :)

So is there any chance that the case is going to be reusable and compatable with future versions? $17,000 for a watch is one thing, but it just seems weird to sell a watch like that that will be obsolete in a year.

As I said in the other thread, $150 feels like the right price for the basic band.

$17,000 for the gold watch is certainly obscene. Can get a nice Patek Phillipe for that. Apple jumping the gun a little bit there.
