Both of you are correct. The audio could be analog or digital (PCM or DD).

That is incorrect. LD was an analogue medium. It could hold Digital bitstream for the audio but that is just a hack.

The important thing to remember is that 128kb/s MP3 is "CD quality".

That, and using vacuum tubes and Monster cable makes music warmer/better/louder/etc.
