The rumour about Apple breaking iPad USB support via the camera kit is currently making the rounds. Apparently 9 to 5 Mac is claiming iOS 4.2 limits the dock connector from 100mA to just 20mA. People are claiming that it's killed support for keyboards, USB headsets, and certain cameras.
I did my own brief testing, and it's false. I plugged my RF keyboard adaptor into it, which consumes 55mA, and it works fine. Same with my USB headset. If they did, I think they capped it to 100mA, not 20. One guy was complaining about not being able to use his Blue Yeti mic, which consumes 150mA. Duh. I wouldn't expect my giant Snowball mic to work either.
Here's the original story.
