PSA: Another vehicle recall: Toyota Sequoia and Tundra

I've said before I'll say it again. Toyota is the most overrated car manufacturer on the face of the planet.

I don't believe it. I thought Jap cars & trucks were made perfectly by God himself.

well now japanese cars are made in america so that tells you something.

So.........Toyota wants to make cars in America to fool people into people into believing that they're all American. Only to have there quality go to the sh!tter. Ownage?

Maybe quality is a little harder to maintain when you have to spit out millions as compared to a few thousand.

That's no excuse. I don't here anyone excusing GM or Ford like that.

And remember boys and girls a recall doesnt happen unless:
Several people have died or been badly injured and the lawsuits, the pending lawsuits, and the possibility of more lawsuits out weigh the cost to put out the recall and fix the defect.

But not till enough people have gotten hurt or died because of a defect and the lawsuits and pending lawsuits have caused them to lose enough money now and possibility of more in the future will one ever come out on a car.

I just read one on the 1998-2002 Ford Crown Vics and people getting burned to death in them, mainly cops. they recalled all the cop cars but still havent the civilian cars for a lousy metal shield around the gas tank, and several regular people have died as well in limos, and taxis. But it takes death, injury, and lost money for the manufacture before the recall will come about.

Everybody loved the Jap cars and said they were the bestest ever and GM & Ford stunk. I guess now that the Japs are spitting out cars like GM & Ford has for many years they are finding it harder to control quality.

Not really, there have been a few recalls regarding small things such as misprinted owners manuals. I suppose that could be potentially harmful depending on what was misprinted.

ohh i see. its ok for Honda Toyota to use this excuse but not Ford or Chevy? gothca. i guess we do need to give them such sspecial treatment.

pfft.

Wow. The level of ignorance about car quality is amazing.
Toyota has been selling quality cars in America because they bring new models to America after they have sold them in other parts of the world. By not having to introduce brand new models they get the benefit of a year or two of working out the problems.
Plus by selling cars in countries that have a stronger demand for quality and higher profit margins they can afford to put more developement work and testing into their cars.
It is not surprising that when Toyota came to America and designed big trucks exclusively for the American market they would have to deal with the same difficulties as American auto makers, in that they would have to sell new designs that were basically being tested by being driven by the end users. Plus, they now are making larger, more complex vehichles with greater stresses and harder usage.
So I completely expected the quality of their new large trucks to be lower than their economy and mid size and luxury cars.

Methinks Brandonbull was being sarcastic. See his earlier post 😛
