PS4 or Xbox One?

eh, PS4 technically has better specs and lower price.

But IMO xbox 360 had better games last gen and I expect that to continue.

Spec wise the PS4, price wise the PS4.

Look at each companies game franchises and see which you like for exclusives, only you will know which franchises you like more and if you care about the types of games each one generally makes. If you don't care about exclusives really and mainly play multiplatform titles, the PS4 is better.

Is there any actual empirical data to back this statement?

From what I gather, everything has basically assumed: "Oh, bigger GPU, GDDR5 must be better", but the XBone has a giant ESRAM on board that the PS4 doesn't have. Have there been real-world performance comparisons between the two?
