Hi, I got a new router and I hooked up my ps4 to the router using ethernet cable and I went to network and then I select easy mode so that it would take the IP automatically and as it was searching for network, the PS4 shut down by itself. I then had to restart it .
So why did it shut down by itself when searching for internet ?

Sony has support and step by step troubleshooting. Why are you asking here?

Did I do any crime by asking here ?
Everything has support nowadays but since we are in a community , I thought why not ask my fellow brothers ? I didnt know that it would be a mistake to ask. Sorry if I troubled you.

Does it do that every time or just once?

It's hard to tell what the problem is if it was just a freak occurrence. I say keep playing/using it as normal and if happens consistently, jot down what you were doing, which programs you were running, or what settings you were adjusting and see if you can find a pattern.

Also, long stretch, but maybe try another ethernet cable or something. One auto restart/shutdown could be caused by any number of things.

No, it just happened this time as it was searching for an internet connection.
I will keep an eye on it today in case it happens again. In fact , it happened like this for the first time.

My first thought was overheat, but if it truly was related to what you were doing at the time obviously that isn't it :)

Weird things can happen to electronics like that. You should have 14 days at MINIMUM to evaluate the PS4 and it's functionality.

If it happens again, just exchange it.

I had problems similar to your with my PS4, but for me the system auto ejects the disc when the system is off. And it keeps ejecting even when there is no disc inside.

I sent the system back to Sony since it was still under the 1 yr warranty and they replaced the drive for me.

For you, your power button may be faulty and that is why the system turns off by itself.

That's a *really* good point. I remember reading that dirt/oil/liquid on your fingers can cause the capacitive eject and power button to malfunction. Try thoroughly cleaning the buttons if it happens any more.

But I'd also send it back if it happened more than once.
