Yeah, there's plenty of Move in-stock everywhere. This is where the NPD making changes to what they report actually hurts. The 2.5 million number is the amount shipped, not sold. So who knows what the actual number sold to consumers is.

Also, this number means nothing to me. DId they sell 2.5 million of the sex toy controllers? I mean, if that's what this means, how many people bought 2 of them? How many bought more than two? How many just bought one? Thus, the number to mean anything should be "households that bought Move" or "unique consoles that have move controllers being used"

I mean, this is like Sony saying that every PS3 they sold counted as a BluRay player sold...and by that I mean, not every PS3 was used as a player. Some where, some weren't. Some still aren't.

Kinect numbers WILL likely be lower, simply because you buy ONE item for the entire console...

kinect numbers will be higher.

5 million people buying Kinect and 3 months later it'll be the equivalent of a knick knack sitting on top of their TV, taking up space, just like the Wii and Move controllers.

In the end, none of these things beat a nice, solid gamepad, especially for people like us who actually play games, not just life simulations where you wave your arms around in front of the TV trying to hit something.

You like gamepad because it's familiar to you, not because it's objectively better. I think gamepads are the worst interface for gaming ever, probably because I'm from an older generation.

I like keyboards, mice, flight sticks, steering wheels because that's what I use on pcs. I also like the Wii controllers because they seem more intuitive than complex gamepads.

then you'll like the move (much better accuracy which means even more intuitive), or the kinect (NO buttons or controllers) even better.

illogical in that accuracy has little to do with intuitiveness, and not relevant as I was comparing controllers I have used.

Since you brought it up I'll say that Kinect would be very unintuitive in replicating interections with actual things, like a steering wheel or gun.

And while it might be intuitive to physically jump to make Mario jump, I wouldn't enjoy jumping for the hours it takes to finish that game.

Not every command interface works for every game. Joystick/throttle/rudder pedals are better than mice/keyboards/controllers for flight, mice/keyboard are typicall best for MMORGPs, FPS, RTS, controllers are typically best for arcade type games, steering wheels/pedals typically best for driving sims.

There will never be a single interface for everything. Specialization is always better. Truth is, the Wii/Kinect/Move interfaces are good at what they are intended for, and not much else. They are not intended to replace all interfaces.

I am looking for an blue ray/media server/HD Wii like device. If Move is a failure... great, it will drop the price for me!!

That's not what I'd call a flight sim, that's an arcade title.

Adherence to realism is irrelevant. Just looking at HAWX from video shows it has to be better on a joystick than on KB+M. Limited turning rate maps naturally into a controller with constrained input, and mouse is unconstrained.

Besides, while HAWX may not be a simulator, it's definitely not an arcade game. This is an arcade game:

It's an arcade game. If it's not a realistic flight sim with proper controls for rudder, throttle, stick, view, HUD controls, and all the other bells and whistles, then it's an arcade game, not a flight sim.

What I was saying was that it is neither.

i'm a ps3 fanboi and i still say the move isnt half as badass as the kinect, i mean hold a dildo or be hands free...hmmmm. Of course its all about developer support even though i wouldnt have either one, got a wii to play those types of games.

I'm so sick of this argument... how fucking old are you guys who refuse to play a game just because of the controller shape? Guess what, the wii is the same shape minus the orb. Maybe some sharper corners, but who cares? I swear to god, AT gets more retarded with every passing second. It's disgusting.

you think shape matters? lol. Let me dumb it down for you....The debate is hands free, or hold onto something...thats the decision. If you could drive a car hands free, would you? theres your choice, if your sick of a debate, do not interact :whiste:

Hands free is more convenient but worse overall.

umm holding a dildo gives you a LOT more possibilities than not holding any input device.

how the hell do you think you will fire a gun in an FPS with the kinect? how about aiming?

yea, good luck with that.

Pointing my finger?

I've been waiting a shit load of time for a game that I can hide behind my couch and pop out and shoot with my finger. :sneaky:

Actually MS has stated numerous times that there is no limitation to having connect work in conjunction with an input device. Originally Fable 3 was going to do this but, lack of time?? A developer at anytime can create an input peripheral (shaped like a gun) if they want to or have you use the controller with kinect?

With wii & ps3 you just don't have an option to NOT use the controller... you are limited.

So people were misled that they would never need other controllers and the $150 peripheral was the base?

Sony came out with the PS Eye first. IE, Eyetoy. How do you people not realize that they could turn around and do the exact same thing with PS3 in HD?

Kinect is the EyeToy's red-headed stepchild, and that came out many years ago on the PS2. Make that grandchild because both the Eyetoy AND the PSEye came out before Kinect. Microsoft took Sony's innovative add-on and is trying to pretend they came up with something completely new. That's fine I suppose, except some of the posters out in the world actually believe that nonsense.

Take a look at the EyeToy/PSEye/Move inventor at Sony who reminds everyone that he's the one who started hands-free camera motion gaming on consoles, and how he ultimately shows it was way too limiting before he moved on to the motion controller/camera combo.

Video

Need more proof?

Dancing on the PS2 Eyetoy (2003)
Virtua Fighter action on the PS2 Eyetoy (Sega Superstars game, 2004)
Martial arts exercise on the PS2 Eyetoy (2005)

And all of that is on the the old tech that has half the resolution and 1/4th of the light sensitivity as the newer PSEye on the PS3. So this tech has been around for many years.

Kinect has some obvious improvements over the PSEye/Eyetoy console camera invention, sure. They copied it and added a few cool features. But until Microsoft admits that you have to have something in your hand for a fuller experience like a position Sony's already evolved from, then their games will remain mostly a collection of the same few genres we see coming out for it now - music, exercise, and goofy party games for casuals. Unlike the Move, which already works well with FPS/TPS shooters and RTS titles, there's no way any hardcore games like that will work well using Kinect alone; impossible.

i can't believe out of all the examples you could've used, you went with a driving analogy.
driving wheel >>> controller >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> hands mimicking holding a wheel

kinect joy ride- 2.5 out of 5 stars
no ability to control speed, can't stratch an itch without completely confusing the camera.
