ps3 vs. xbox360

I may be the only person in the world that has yet to purchase a console for gaming. After seeing and reading the PS3 release info. . . I may just pick it up when it does get released next year. Total hotness.

I've never purchased a console either, and I'm seriously looking at buying the Xbox360 or PS3 (or both!) too. 🙂

I thought it was interesting that the RSX (ACURA!) chip powering the PS3 was claimed to be 2x faster than the 6800 Ultra. Because just two days ago I saw a quote from Nvidia saying G70 will be 2x faster than the 6800 Ultra. So in essence, RSX = G70??? We'll have PS3-level graphics (minus the CPU) on our desktops this fall, before the PS3 launches? Someone needs to clear this up.

edit: here's what I'm talking about:

The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1,000 total if purchased today.

Market sources indicated that the Nvidia G70 should deliver twice the performance of the current flagship series, the GeForce 6800.
