PS3 video playback out of sync

Has anyone experienced a situation where the PS3 would playback a video and the audio is ahead of the video and the framerate of the video is noticeably laggy? Is there a limit as to how high of a bitrate the PS3 can handle when it comes to playing back HD video?

Reason I ask is I was using Nvidia's new Shadowplay game DVR software and it works great. Records in 1080p 60fps. However the bitrate for the video is 30Mbps which doesn't seem like much but I regularly see the PS3 playback drop to 24Mbps or even less than 20Mbps at times. Are there video files that are simply too demanding for the PS3 to play back? I had the video file on the PS3 HDD during playback as well.

How much buffering, scaling, post processing, etc is going on?

Is it a constant offset? Way to add an audio delay offset to sync it?

The software simply uses the encoders in Kepler based GPUs to encode an xh264 mp4 in real time at 1080p/60fps in stereo sound. There are no options to delay the audio etc. What I did notice though is a PC will play it perfectly fine. I have not tried any other devices yet.

hmmm i thought that the ps3 has some sort of audio delay settings but i could just be thinking about my avr settings. have you looked in the audio settings of the ps3 for something like this?

this in general is one issue i've seen before when streaming in general that i've never experienced with a bluray disc. i think i had some issues with amazon prime on my ps3 doing this as well, or it could have just been streaming to my ps3 and running ps media server on my computer. it's extremely annoying when it happens.

If its just audio lag by a constant offset and the video isn't skipping or dropping it must be something with the PS3 deeply pipelining the video decode without delaying the audio to match.

The frame rate of the video visually lags behind where it would when played on a PC. Its like it cannot process the encoded video fast enough to keep up. This is all from the ps3 HDD too. Not even network streaming or playing off a disk. Other than reencoding it in handbreak I can't think of anything to try.
