If they do that it's pretty much a guarantee Viacom will be one studio that won't support Blu-ray.

It seems that Sony is sick and tired of people going against their word, and have decided to enforce it.

I'm not saying its right or anything, just that it should come as no surprise.

EDIT: This would really screw with PS3 sales.

Fixed

I'm sure it's possible, but it'll never happen. Sony knows better.

Nope, they don't know better.....they are now starting to get sued for their mess up with putting spyware on peoples pcs when they play CDs. (Look up Sony Root Kit)

yea if you want an example of how far their heads are up their asses look at how long it took for them to build a music player that took mp3.... and still they are raping it with bullsh*t drm software.

It'd be funny if they did this, because they would pretty much kill themselves in one move. Microsoft is already putting some stiff competition out there, and they'll be first to the table.

Well it's not spyware, it uses the same technology a lot of spyware does. And I've read the article, it's stated in the EULA that the DRM will be installed, so I don't think those lawsuits are gonna get very far.

This source, the Inquirer, is questionnable, at best.

They are just alarmists. If you read the article carefully, they say that they are not aware of any plans to use this on the PS3, but they think that Sony might do that.

Whatever...

No way this would happen, it'd kill their sales...only very few would buy the PS3 then.

Pure speculation at this point.

And you really think Sony wants to handle the thousands of calls from their customers asking why a game won't play on their PS3? It would just end up leading to thousands of returns/replacements, which is something Sony does not want.

Not gonna happen. Logistics befuddle the mind, and if they did do it, it would erase any market share they've worked to gain.

I love the inquirer. You get neat words like

"may allow"

"many rumours"

"hasn't been"

"Sony could be"

"it would be"

Believe the hype. The inquirer told you so!

No there not. Well at least EQ and WoW arent. I can install my copy of either on any pc and as long as my account is valid I can connect.

Gamestop/Ebgames/Funcoland would all sue as pre-played games are a huge part of their business. Blockbuster Video and other rental places would also go nuts and take them to court. You also wont be able to sell the games via Ebay as well or return bad games that were gifts..etc. This wont happen at all.

Well, killing rentals would be a good idea since 90% of the crap games released these days can be beat in 3 days anyway. They want you to pay $50 for a 15 hour game instead of $4.

I don't think they will do this. But, I also don't care.
