Hello Everyone,

I attempted to connect my PS3 wirelessly to my FIOS router, and I keep receiving a DNS 80710102 error message. I've scoured the net for solutions, however I am just getting more confused, because the majority of posts speak to people with more computer knowledge than myself.

Has anyone had a similar experience, and could just breakdown for me step by step in "layman" terms what I need to do to connect my PS3 to the internet. My main goal is to connect the PS3 to my home network to stream movies that are stored on another computer.

Thank you in advance for your help.

T.S.

80710102 is an IP conflict error. This means two devices on your network are trying to use the same IP address (which breaks the laws of IP networking for devices on the same subnet).

I do not know what hardware you are using. Did Verizon give you a wireless router or are you using one that you bought on your own from an electronics store? If you bought it, what make/model so we have an idea of what we are dealing with. If it is from Verizon, again, post what make/model the device is so we can look it up to see what we are dealing with.

The cause of an IP conflict error is most usually from connecting multiple devices directly to a cable/dsl/whatever modem device from an ISP. Normally, you only get 1 IP address from the ISP. You then need to use a router and DHCP server (which most home/consumer routers provide all-in-one) to create your own home subnet, which uses the 1 IP address you get from the ISP to connect to the internet on the one side of the router (WAN side), and as many new IP addresses as you need (or as many supported by the device) for all the devices you have in your home (the LAN side of the router).

Hello, thank you for that feedback. I have an Actiontec MI424WR router that was provided by Verizon when they installed FIOS.

The PS3 is able to obtain an IP address, however it simply won't connect to the internet, and possibly that is because of the information you provided. I just dont know what I'm doing! It is one of the most frustrating things I've ever come across! You would think connecting, would be as easy as scanning for an available signal, obtaining the SSID, and WEP Key, and Voila!, you're connected!! But there is something about the PS3, and the router that is just buggy. I can connect to the router with my netbook, with no problems at all!!
