PS3 Slim Shortage?

I was looking to buy a PS3 Slim. Well everywhere their sold out. Online or in store I can't find any place that has them. Only Ebay has them and they are charging like $400 for them. I thought this shortage thing was fixed already I guess not...

Sony is prepping new revisions (allegedly no new features just cost-reduced parts) and has said there will be shortages for a little while.

Just wait a little while and they'll be back in stock at list price, or maybe even at a lower price or with a game pack-in.

Same issue here. Looking for ps3, cannot find. No ETA. Preferred vendor is Dell, shoulda ordered when they were listed!!!

It may be due to triple A title like Final Fantasy xiii and God of war 3 that come out this month to0 cause peopel start buying ps3.

Why have they done that?

Cartman economics, also known as the "you can't come" technique. Shortages keep the value up and the excitement for the product up. Just a theory of mine.

PS3s have been on backorder since Christmas. Sony claims the problems will be fixed by summer. Gamestop has been screaming for more units but neither Sony or Nintendo will up production.

Haven't seen any PS3s for a couple months at my local Target and sam's club, plenty of Wiis and 360's. Dell has been clearing out a lot of new xbox 360 arcades for $149.99-159.99 these past few weeks.

I got really lucky I went into the local Best Buy for something else and figured I'd ask the giant blueberry with feet by the PS3 shelves if they have any PS3s in stock, she said soon, I asked when will that be about, expecting to hear try next week or something, she said 5 minutes they are in the back right now, I was like 😱. ok thanks. Waited around a few minutes watching some dude playing MLB 10 the show on a 50" screen and out she comes with like 8 PS3s on a hand truck and handed 1 of them to me. I would have kissed her if she didn't weigh about as much as a Mini Cooper.

Picked up that MLB game which I don't like much, and GT5 prologue which I grew to love playing.

I got mine from GameStop. Knowing the manager helps as well, still paid full price BUT I got one lol. Even hooked me up with the advertising poster of GOWIII the white one with his eye and part of the tattoo in it.

all i know is i walked into costco and they have probably 20 of the bundles (120gb slim, bluray remote, and uncharted 1) for 320. Always seem to have them in stock

I don't think it supports MKV, but I stream AVI's from my PC all the time. I believe there is software for the PC you can get that will allow MKV files to stream though.

I haven't heard of that.

I thought they might have had a GoW3 pack or something, but nothing new. I haven't seen a PS3 on the shelf since right after Thanksgiving. I've seen a few Wiis, and tons of 360s.

Another territory had a FFXIII bundle..though now that I think of that it was probably Japan and it was back when it released there.

Does anyone know if PS3 supports MKV or AVI files?
It does with a little bit of conversion. Just google ps3 mkv. It is REALLY easy. Some I've found work without doing any conversion but I don't know what the difference is.

Yeah, some people are saying it s due to a new part that has to go through FCC. It's not new as in, new feature, it new as in they found a cheaper vendor.

Also, some electronic companies are going through shortages now. My company buys lots of stuff for our clients. We got stuff that has 1 week lead times with a sudden 12 week lead time.

I ended up just buying mine off of craigslist.

Anyone want to buy mine? 2 weeks old, 3 year Square Trade warranty. Better than new with a box and a HDMI cable lol.
