- God Of War III is along way off, won't be released until Christmas 2009.
- The BBC reckons Sony has an amazing secret game in the works for 2009.
- Capcom is developing Dead Rising 2 for multiple platforms including PlayStation 3.
- Team ICO's new game has links to Norse myths.
- Mass Effect and its Sequels will come to PlayStation 3.
- Sony already has a in-game version of the PlayStation 3's XMB up and running.
- Netflix will soon offer movie downloads straight to your PlayStation 3.

I guess nothing surprising here though, although I am looking forward to Team ICO's new game.

Wouldn't surprise me. Capcom is doing well going multi-platform with Devil May Cry 4.

- Mass Effect and its Sequels will come to PlayStation 3.

MS owns the publishing rights for Mass Effect so I don't see 1 coming to PS3. The sequels are a possibility though. However, I wouldn't bet out MS paying out the nose to keep Mass Effect exclusive.

- Netflix will soon offer movie downloads straight to your PlayStation 3.

Same rumor with the 360.

Hot Shots Golf 5 has somewhat of an ingame XMB. you can access your friend list by pressing select at certain parts of the online game. it feels somewhat hackish though.

also god of war 3 coming around 09 holiday i thought was announced a while back wasnt it?

and this 60gb of HDD space is slowly starting to seem too small w/the forced game installs and now they may offer movie downloads.

Secret game eh? Wonder what it could be..

Could be Rockstar's PS3 exclusive.

They do have the ingame XMB. There was a preview back, where I believe one of the Devs accidentally accessed the XMB while demoing a game, and he went "oops"

Eh, you can say that about any fucking console. Whoopdy-do. It reminds me of the big hoopla last week when Reggie from Nintendo said to get ready for some big-time game this holiday season. Whoopdy-do again. Of course the marketing lead for Nintendo will tell you shit like this.

FFVII remake! :Q

God of War 3 probably wont be released until then, I don't think many are holding their breath for that release!

Secret game? Rockstar is working on an exclusive right now, I forget the name.

Don't know anything about Capcom

Ditto with ICO.

I know that at least Mass Effect 2 and 3 will see light on PS3. MS has very short exclusivity for ME2 or so I've read.

Ingame XMB is getting ready

I've heard the Netflix rumour too. But so far Netflix uses WMP DRM so they would have to do something about that.

Well, the rumor was saying that ME2 would be a 360 timed exclusive, with a release on the PC some months after. Nothing about the PS3 has ever been mentioned whatsoever. But I just don't see ME2 being 360 exclusive with EA at the helm now.

"amazing secret game" could be; http://kotaku.com/371645/first...ime-playstation-3-demo

German site 4Sceners.de published this weekend the first captured images of a demo for a mysterious commercial product known as Linger In Shadows, created by demoscene group Plastic. Details are virtually nonexistent on Linger In Shadows, a title Sony Computer Entertainment trademarked in November of last year. Members of the Plastic team said of the demo, which was shown at the Breakpoint 2008 gathering this weekend, that it would be released publicly on the PlayStation 3, possibly as a graphical showcase for the system, but that it was not a game in the conventional sense.

Other Breakpoint attendees teased via the Pouet.net forums that it would be somehow playable and that Linger In Shadows was one of multiple demoscene projects commissioned by Sony. We're looking into it further to learn more about the project.

FFVII remake! :Q

Let's hope so. Although I don't think an FFVII remake will be that much of a shot in the arm for the PS3. GT5 is probably going to be more effective for the US and Euro markets. FF will push PS3 sales in Japan that's for sure. I'd love to see a FFVII remake, but what about the voices? I hope they don't screw them up like they did with FFX!

Well it looks like a techdemo like they showed for UE3....but hey if it really is some kick ass game- its about time they finally released something that can take advantage of the very complex PS3 architecture.

Not that there's anything here obviously false, but in general magazines are always so much fun purposefully spreading their BS in the March/April issues.

Almost as much fun will be the posters on every message board who will think they're funny enough to make random crap up tomorrow. 😛

It's very much likely going to be an FFVII remake. It's no coincidence they showed the potential of the White Engine with the FFVII tech demo. They have also hinted recently that there is big finale for the FFVII universe they've been building up, and since they have already announced and/or released all of the FFVII games already, only logical game that could serve as a 'big finale' would be a PS3 title. And what better game to serve as a finale than FFVII itself. I'm already stoked and will be sorely let down if this is not the case.
I've never held my breath for a game, but this is it. Why? Because I've never played the game before. Yes, go ahead and gasp. I started FF basically with FFVIII, tried IX but hated it, and played through FFX. Never hit X-2, played a trial of FFXI, and bought but played about an hour, if that, of FFXII. Very slow start to the game, sadly. Nothing huge really gripped me. Looks amazing and what I've read about the story sounds like my kind of RPG, but I just never got hooked. Before FFXIII comes around, I'm gonna tried it again and see if I can progress in XII.
But would very much love to play FFVII with the glory of the PS3's capabilities. Would look amazing if that tech demo is any evidence of beauty.

A big finale? That'll probably just ruin the series. Can't top what they did in the 90s, especially now that cloud is emo. Advent Children killed his character IMO. I really think the chibi stuff they used in the original FF7 helped the series a lot. Hell, Cloud could have been emo all along, but the chibi characters sure did not portray that, which was a good thing.

I'd love to see it myself, but I think a PSP remake is more likely than a PS3 remake. That seems to be the way Square Enix is going these days. I have both a PSP and a PS3, so I could live with either.

ugh, full blown RPGs on a portable is the LAST thing I want. Portable games shouldn't be something you need to invest a lot of time into or risk nothing making sense and never grasping the entirety of the game. I mean, if you can only put in 20 minutes here, a half hour here, and 10 minutes at some points... how are you supposed to get much accomplished in a big RPG? I guess these are for the people that have a portable but play it on their couch for hours on end.
Any FFVII remake on the PSP is sadly something I'll never buy into. It's why I won't buy into Crisis Core either... I just can't do it. Patapon stands as the golden example of what a portable game should be like (although no pause feature is a killer) imho. Games like Killzone: Liberation also stand out.

I personally love portable games that take a long time... the only way I can spend an hour on the exercise bike every day is if I'm playing video games. I'm just hoping that when Civilization Revolution comes out on the DS it won't have significant stylus controls... although that's probably wishful thinking. A game like that could get me through months of exercise.

I find it hard to excercise and game at the same time. I tried reading a textbook once on the excercise bike. Did not work out.

Yeah, it only works for some games. I can play Advance Wars no problem. It's a recumbent bike, so that helps.

I tend to put everything I got into cardio machines, so I can't do much other than stare off and listen to my mp3s. 😉 My body moves to much so I can't focus in between labored breaths on which button I should try and push next. That and my hands get all sweaty.
then again, I've never tried... just because I envision it being an utter failure of an attempt. 😀

FFVII PS3?!

Some tasty tidbits in that there link. Nothing necessarily press release confirmed, but the mumblings are growing louder in the industry and I'm seriously not doubting a word of it.
Here's to hoping. 😀
