PS3 Question: Can you play music (mp3s from network Media Center)

It found the folders on my vista machine and plays the music fine, but can you move to something else, like web surfing, viewing other songs, etc while the playist or song is playing? If so how do you do it? We are enjoying the Console, esp little big planet...I had to order an IR dongle for the Harmony Remote.
