PS3 PS1 downlaods - uses normal PS1 virtual mem cards?

I have a pile of PS1 CDs in my unplayed stack including Chrono Trigger, Xenogears and FF VII.

Does anyone know whether game saves are compatible between the PS1 CDs and the PSN store downloads?

The idea is I could start playing with the CD, then get the download if I liked the game but the load times were too annoying.

So, does the PSN download make you create and attach PS1 memory cards like the PS1 emulator does? Has anyone tried something like loading an old save (using the USB mem card adapter) then using it with a PSN download?

this is a really good question actually, i'm hoping somebody will answer it so i can find out too 🙂

PSN uses the same memory cards. I purchased some PS1 classics on PSN to use along with my PS1 disc games and they use the same virtual cards. I can't say that it would be the same for EVERY PSN PS1 game but its the case with me.
