Anything would be better than the Xbox backwards compatibility. I'll never be able to prove it, but I'm willing to bet that companies like EA paid off MS to purposely not allow backwards compatible versions of their franchise games.
I find it rather odd that not a single Madden or Tiger Woods golf game(except '07) are on the list.
At least with the hardware equipped PS3's you aren't entirely up to the control of the console manf. to release compatibility patches.

I want to wait for that to happen so that I can use my sony style card and buy three to sell. Will this happen before the end of November? September?

Depends on how you look at it. You find it odd, I think the opposite. For the same reason that old sports games depreciate faster than any other game - people want the latest and greatest. At EB Games now you can get Madden 06 for ~$5 and 07 for ~$12. It's better to spend the time making games that more people want to play backward-compatible.

You do realize you are speaking to the chairman of the royal council of trollkeep. Too bad the OT folks verbally beat the twit down so hard that he relocated to the software forums.

Except most of my posts are still in OT. I got tired of giving out pwnage in every thread so I came here thinking there are more intelligent posters, only to see the same, poor quality users.
*goes to general hardware.
I'm in the $400 too. I hope this doesn't turn me into a Blu-ray fanboi.Originally posted by: JBT

I really don't get what's going on with all these new models coming out. I haven't checked laptop drives, but for desktop you can get about 500gigs for $100 on sale. What are they going to strip from the 40gb model to try and keep the 80gb moving.
Both 40GB and 60GB drives are around $45-50 on Newegg (and of course Sony would be able to get it for cheaper). That's why the 40GB drive sounds like BS to me.
Unless the 40 GB is similar to the 20 GB, lacking the Wifi and memory card reader IIRC. But Sony said there was never any demand for the 20 GB, so I guess it wouldn't make sense to bring it back at the same feature and price differential.

Do you really believe that there was no demand for the 20GB? Just like there was no demand for the 60GB after the price drop so they discontinued that? The 40GB is just proof that they've realized people won't pay ~$600 for a system, even if it's branded Sony. I don't know how gimped it is, but the $400 is finally a decent move.
