If they do a $400 launch price, I might need to get very, very drunk to stop myself exploding with joy.

Would be sweet but dont see it being that cheap... esp not in rip-off-Britain... :(

IMO theres no way we would pay less than £299

Still want one though :p

well,

xbox360 has actually been looking better and better since it came out. games are coming, and i really like the GUI and everything,

i am a sony fan though, so i will probably end up with a PS3 (fingers crossed blu-ray wins! lol) purely for GT5 alone.

xbox360 is getting a HD-DVD attachment, and the first HD DVD players are out

and one of the neat things thats happened, is that companies are producing double sided discs. DVD on one side, HD-DVD on the other. both sides containin the movie. so if you dont wanna get a HD-DVD and HDTV jus yet, you can watch the DVD, then when the time comes to upgrade to HD you can turn the disc over and watch the movie in HD!!! without having to go out an buy the same movie twice!!!

now to me thats a great idea for the transition (this was posted over at bit-tech as well)
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2006/04/27/hybrid_hd_dvd_discs/

and with blu-ray it just cant happen becuase the formats are too disimilar to be able to produce double sided double format discs

my bro likes the wii too, im not overly impressed at the specs, and ive never been a fan of the type of games nintendo generally make (ie all the mario, pokemon type games)

but that controller is looking very very swish indeed. i like the way you can use it for anything...like a lightsaber, a fishing reel, a steering wheel (yay for gyroscopics!) and then you got all the attachments for it, it should be very easy to use in fps games if they make a mouse type of attachment.

i can just see 4 player super smash bros...... everyone jabbing controllers at each other in the front room!

From everything I've heard, the $399 is just rumor. Some magazine pulled that price out of internet wishes, and another magazine claimed the first magazine as evidence.

Sure it could be that price...or it could be $499, or $599, or if you really want to get people worked up, say $299. :)

Doesn't really matter to me, till I see one for sale.

saddly i believe you are correct.

it costs too much to make for them to sell it that cheap. like kutaragi said "reassuringly expensive"

hopefully that means, aint cheap but its worth every penny spent on it.

Werent some companies estimating it to cost $900 to make?

If thats true, Sony is going to shake off $500 every time someone buys a console. Not gonna happen.

Doesn't matter what price they want to set anyways, just look at the original PS2 launch, or far more recently - the XBox360 launch. Months after release you're still forced into buying overpriced bundles - where's the system straight up for MSRP? Maybe if you're one of the ones that preorders one of the 100K some odd systems that are going to be available on launch day.

Even if they could physically do it, there's simply going to be no way Sony would flood the market with 50million avialble units to meet the demand.

Yep the controller and $199 price tag make the Wii a very attractive system. I'm not even a console fan but since this system wil be bringing something new to the table, I'm gonna buy it and give it a try. Best of all, I don't need to go out and spend a fortune on an HDTV to enjoy it.

I don't like the name of the Wii. Sounds ridiculous. But I've finally warmed up to the DS and I think the Revolution controller looks great! Metroid Prime 3 FTW!!!

399, thats pretty cheap considering all this blu ray capabilites.
But revolution's controller looks so cool.. while sony's one looks like a curved di1do.
