Price cuts coming in March, PS3 performing better in PAL territories than 360
Our source tells us that SCEE President David Reeves took to the stage to discuss the current economic climate and how it shouldn?t affect PlayStation business, though was quick to mention that SCEE will be getting more competitive in price from March 2009 onwards. Our guess is that we?ll be seeing price cuts to PS3 around Easter to tie in with the release of Killzone 2?

Killzone 2 is still slated for mid-February. Maybe if they dropped the price, it'd tie into the public release of Home. That's my guess.

Yeah... the basis of the article is a single anonymous source. I'm not sure I'm going to put much stock in it. Not to mention that the price cut bit wasn't even mentioned by Sony, that's just random conjecture.

late spring is around the time they should be dropping the price since they ain't this holiday. They can't expect ppl to keep giving $399/$499 for a console and it two years old. Waiting till next holiday season for a price cut is to long. If I was guessing I would say we might see a $349 price Q1/Q2 of 09 and maybe another next holiday season if we are lucky.

This information was confirmed by an SCEE employee on GAF. So word for word it may not be exact it is probably close to it especially with Sony's basic no comment stance on it this morning. With that said it Reeves says more competitive on pricing by March that kind of indicates some kind of price cut.

Actually Sony outright admitted the meeting occurred;

This apparently comes from a source that was in attendance going only by the name of 'Legends' via D+Pad. Sony has effectively confirmed that the meeting happened in a statement that said, "Information discussed within the confines of internal company meetings is confidential and subject to change. We do not have anything to announce at present and we do not comment on rumour and speculation."
