PS3 playing HD video files.

I have a .mp4 file which does not play on my ps3, although its mpeg 4 with AAC (wich i think is playable on ps3 according to the manual). does anyone know exactly which type of files can be played on the ps3?
 
Should not be a problem for the PS3. When you say it is MPEG 4, can you be more specific about which codec? If it is MPEG-4/AVC and it's higher than level 4.1, then your PS3 won't read it. Just to double check, it's not really an .mkv file, is it?
 
download MediaInfo to see what h264 profile your video is encoded at

anything less than high profile @ 4.1 should play
