PS3 OS Support for 4K "advanced format" hard drives?

Does anyone know if any of the recent patches support 4kb sector "advanced format" hard drives? Or should I stick with the old 512byte sector drives?

The newer PS3 units come with newer drives, would't Sony have added support to the PS3 via firmware to accommodate these changes?

On v4.11, I decided to give it a shot, due to the lack of recent comments about it. I have successfully restored to my 640GB AF drive, and feel a minor performance increase. Here is a very rough, one-off 'benchmark' i did. The FF8 Install time is the most impressive.
