PS3 optical out sound crackling

So I am running my ps3 to my computer via optical out. It is hooked up to the external box of the audigy 2 zs platinum pro. I am using the Creative S750 speakers(7.1).

When I play fight night round 3 and land a big punch or press buttons in the menu, I hear crackling across several speakers. This does not happen with any other game for ps3, or ps2 for that matter. I have tried all that I can think of. I updated the drivers, changed the sound to 5.1, played with many a various setting. Suggestions?
 
Stereo/analog works just fine via optical or anything else.
The signal is also a dolby digital signal if that helps anyone.
