ps3 on monitor... HDCP and audio?

im going to buy a monitor to hook up to my ps3, but i dont know how to tell if the monitor i chose would work (based on this HDCP thing i keep hearing about). Also, what's the best way to get audio with this setup?

Most newer monitors that arent the dirt cheap versions will be HDCP. If the monitor itself has an hdmi input you can almost guarantee itll be hdcp. Same if it is listed as "1080p" resolution its most likely hdcp. of course best way if its not listed at the store is to go home and look it up, or have the sales associate look it up for ya.

As for audio.....the way i do it with my pc monitor is to just use the stereo (red, white, yellow) cable and set it in the ps3 options to output audio via component and use my computer speakers for audio. You will need a 2 female end to 1 adapter then dpending if you can find it the 1 end will need to be female so you might end up with a male end and just have to buy a female to female adapter to go on it. Really easy and costs maybe 10 total (if that)

Use the red and white cables to get stereo..that is what I do. My monitor actually has HDMI with an audio jack, so I could get it through the monitor if I want, but I prefer to have it hooked to my stereo via the red/white cables.

^ What they said.

Keep in mind that you'll need to set the audio output to the RCA connectors in the PS3 system menu.

Benq E2200HD or E2400HD. Both have a headphone out that can be run to speakers or whatever that takes a standard 3.5mm jack.

i'm using my ps3 on my regular lcd monitor which is 16:10, my hook up is a dvi - hdmi cable. and multiple audio output using the supplied rca cable.

looks fine on the monitor, even thou it has more verticle pixels. and seems to refresh quicker than my regular lcd tv!
