PS3 next to airconditioner

If I put the ps3 (PHAT) right next to a window unit to cool it.

Will that kill the hardware. I'm just wondering if there'd be condensation.. etc.:\

I am about to embark on FF 13 which is known to kill PS3s of all types.

No one knows the cause, so I intend to at least take heat out of the equation.

It's remotely possible that it would kill it. Assuming you leave your PS3 off for a length of time and it's blasted by cold air, then you turn it on and it warms up quickly enough to cause condensation on the inner surfaces (similar to if you wear glasses in an air conditioned car on a hot humid day and then go outside - your glasses can fog up real quick) which then drips down onto the board or components shorting them out and killing them.

It's possible. Unlikely, but still possible.

Condensation would be my only worry, but unless you literally have the AC cranked all the time blowing directly into the case I don't foresee a problem.

I don't know about window units, but air coming from central ACs is dehumidified and contains very little to no water at all. The only condensation problem would be if the PS3 was quite cold and then rapidly switched to hot, but then again, I doubt this will cause any problem.

Achhhemm.. This is actually exactly what I thought would Prevent it from overheating..

The direct input of coldness into the ps3...

So you're all saying it's a bad.. idea...

just make sure a mouse doesn't pop out of the AC and into the ps3.

i don't think it could do any harm...its the same as keeping the ps3 cold with solution.

Is there a Custom PS3 heatsink/ cooler I can buy..

my FF13 is coming,, and I want to be ready sooonish.

I really like my phatass 3 cuz it's the one with a REAL backwards compatibility chip.

Just getting the ambient room temp down should be enough. You shouldnt have the air blowing directly over the playstation, cause as you mentioned, it could cause condensation.
