PS3 looks a damn sight more impressive -YES I KNOW THIS WILL BE A REPOST

jus read the article on the homepage

just wow

7 wireless contollers
6 usb ports
wifi for 3 devices
can decode 12 seperate HD media at once
backward compatible to the PSX
supports blue ray and pretty much every other disc type
dual monitor support (2k*1K) and 1080p

sony have kept quiet....and im very much liking what ive just seen and read. i think sony will be the first to see my money for a new console...ill check microsoft after that.

link for those who have the forums as their homepage and never visit the home page

jus comparing spec sheets, the xbox 360 is well beaten

100million shader ops (ps3) vs 48 billion
51 billion dot product calcs (ps3) vs only 9 billion
2 Tera-FLOPS (ps3) vs 1 Tera-FLOP

yes i know this is marketing at work, but if thats true...........WOW

While we can't be sure of anything until the consoles are actually released, you would hope that the PS3 is going to be technically superior to the Xbox360, given that it'll be out probably an entire year later than the Xbox...

yes you would hope, and if it was the computer market you'd definately hope so. but i dont see it like that with consoles, you have to make it as wicked as you can since its going to be a another 4-5 years before its gonna get replaced

its still been built with currently available tech, and it seems better (on paper) now.

theyre both born of the same time frame, its not like the PS3 is using un available tech. i just think microsoft havent aimed quite high enough. its not beyond them to build something with abit more power

but at the end of the day i dont suppose i matters how powerful each is relative to the other...it'll be whos got the most skilled programmers.

You may have a point....in any case, those videos from the PS3 thing earlier today were absolutely amazing, and if they (either console) can really do that kind of stuff in real time, I'll be very tempted to buy one or both. Or, ideally, the games I would be interested in would be available for PC, since I plan on upgrading to an A64 X2/G70(or R520) system later in the year. 😀

im really liking the dual monitor support (HDMI connections!) that could bring to console what we PC users have had for a while.

itll be damn cool if u can play a game, and watch a movie, or tv or something you recorded at the same time, or if u could use that extra screen to view your stats etc and use it to aid your gaming

the nv GPU is huge, 300Million trannies, and its what 600+ million for the whole system, watercooled perhaps? nad itll be interesting to see if unified shaders are better than the tried and tested vertex/pixel shader method

Yeah, I can't wait until Unreal Engine 3 and friends appear on the gaming scene. 😀

I really like the HDMI connection idea too - because those can easily be converted to DVI, and my widescreen LCD monitor could thus be connected. 😉

mmmmmmm progress
