I went to load Dark Souls earlier and it stuck loading my game. I deleted all save data, etc. and tried again. I'm now getting a "data is corrupt" message. Is my HDD shot? Is there an easy way to check?
Well you could always try another game (unless Dark Souls is your only game) and see if it loads and uses the hard drive properly. If Dark Souls is your only game then I'd download one of the game demos from the PSN marketplace (any demo will do) and see if it will download & install.
I had a problem downloading and installing Infamous from the PSN. After talking to the customer service several time and doing there instructions I finally went out an bought a new hard drive. I got one with 32meg cache and now it saves faster.
I reformatted last night, and it seems to be working today. Not sure if something was corrupted on the HD or not... hope when I try to play a bit tonight it'll actually work.
So does it read regular DVDs at all? If it reads regular DVDs you might be able to fix it by cleaning the lens. If not then you're typically looking at about $60ish to replace the blu ray lens assembly.
