That's like, twice as much as my PC under load, and more than a 42" plasma screen HDTV.

I assume this is the specified absolute maximum, so you'll never come near it IRL...i'm more hung up on that guy's electricity prices, poor dude ;)

Anyone buying a PS3 shouldn't have a financial problem to start with, and a mere $80 per year because of it won't stop those who now know about it. The majority of buyers (parents, for their kids) will not try to get such information, and the consumers themselves, mostly teenagers won't care at all.

my computer pulls way more than that at load lol. i cant believe anyone here would care about a measly 360 watts when the R600 is supposed to pull 300 watts all by its lonesome, and anyone here would drool to get thier hands on one of those.

I won't believe this just yet. The said Sony released the information, yet they don't provide link to the information.

Judging from the second response in the talkback, it's more misinformation.

Apparently it has a 380W PSU. Console types don't realize that power supply capacity != power draw.

Especially since on paper the GPU is a glorified G70 (consumes <100W including the RAM). Cell is a beast, but it shouldn't consume anywhere near 200W by itself.

Not to mention the fact that by 2008 Sony plans to shrink everything in the PS2 down to 65nm.

I think we should all start a thread in Forum Issues advocating how much we want dug777 to be banned. :p j/k

Yes, welcome back indeed. We should really consider making a thread in Off-Topic about your comeback.
