ps3: how to put .avi and .mp3 on it from USB drive?

i just got a new PS3 80gb and would like to put some mp3s and avi files onto it. How do i do this?
what format does the flash drive need to be in? FAT32? NTFS? and do i just copy and paste it onto the drive? thanks

It may not show up on the XMB once you put the stick in. If it doesn't go to the stick, hit triangle and hit "show other." from there you can manipulate the file any way you like...

Just copy the files to the thumb drive. Copy and paste or simply drag them over. It should be FAT32, which is the default filesystem for thumb drives.

If you have a router and a computer, you can download Tversity and use the computer as a media server. Way easier to play back AVI and MP3 files that way.

I have been unable to play AVI (from my Sony camera) files on my ps3 - they are listed as corrupted files on the ps3 while they are fine on PCs.

Let me know if you have better luck.
