PS3 help needed HDMI to DVI problem

Hello everybody. Its my first post and i dont know if this is the correct section to post this topic as i couldnt find any PS3 related forum. Correct me if i am wrong.
I bought a HDMI to DVI cable for my PS3 to make it run on my Viewsonic 2025WM LCD monitor.
It doesn't work on mine, nor does it work on some of the samsung and dell lcd monitors that i have tried. My LCD is not HDCP compliant and the other LCDs that i have tried are HDCP.The cable looks good to me but am i missing some thing here? There is no display even after i reset all my settings while keeping the power button pressed for a few seconds on the PS3.

If there is a solution to this then let me hear it. I will be greatly thankful to everybody for their suggestions. I have not tried on any HDTV LCD coz its pointless for me as i plan to keep my LCD and buy a full HD HDTV later this year. So till then i want to at least experience 720p on my LCD. I was very depressed by this and i still am Please tell me what to do.

I am also ready to discard this monitor if any of you are sure that it will work on any other particular brand. Many say that it works fine on a dell 2407wfp.

I was under the impression that the PS3 ALWAYS requires HDCP, even for games and other stuff that shouldn't.

I don't think it does, otherwise people wouldn't be able to use component. Besides, he did try it on monitors that support HDCP, and it still didn't work.

have you got it working on any hdmi device? You may have to connect it through component or even composite to any tv you have and tell it to use the hdmi output then try connecting to your monitor.

I will try to do that. But that doesnt matter because when i reset the PS3 to factory settings ther has to be some display on the screen. I yet have to experiment it on some other HDCP monitors and for it to work on my screen is impossible as its not a HDCP compliant.

pretty sure that with my brothers ps3 I had to hook it up through component first then tell it to use hdmi or autoselect the options. since it comes with a composite cable just hook it up to any tv and check the video out settings.

OK, let me rephrase that: when using HDMI, the PS3 always requires HDCP. Naturally, if it's using an analog connection, it's not going to need HDCP.

What computer LCD do you have? So what you are trying to say is that at first even you had the same problem as i am having now? and it got solved after you hooked it up to a TV and from the options selected HDMI?
Please let me know if you did this. I will also do the same at my friends place who has a HDCP monitor.

There is a console gaming forum, although this is probably the second best place for it.
