I think I'd just get the 20gb one and upgrade my HD in the future. I don't know if the 20gb PS3 will be easier to find or not.

Also, will upgrading the HDD void the warranty?

Hmmm. still, a 2.5" hard drive is pretty pricy and so far it doesn't seem like a good idea to use a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter.
I'm sure people will find a way to get it to use 3.5" hard drives with some cable though.
This is new news to me.![]()

From my understanding HD video really won't be that much of a concern. From what I've read HD movies will take up a considerable amount of space, but you can't keep it. All HD movies will be rented and will expire within 24hr (I believe that is the time limit). So even if it does take up quite a bit of space, you'll end up deleting it because it will no longer play. Now that is just my understanding, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Sony may allow you to install even a 160GB drive, but with games installing 5GB worth of data each, that space is going to shrink up FAST. The 360 80GB hard drive may end up giving more usable space for content downloads than a 160GB drive for the PS3.
It is "optional" but it is optional for a reason. The Blu-Ray drive is extremely slow, that is why Sony gave the "option" to install to the hard drive. Yes, if you like long load times, then you'll definitely save HDD space. But I think most people will install the game to the HDD after they see the difference it makes in load times.Originally posted by: NFS4

Those 5GB game installs are optional for the PS3. So I don't quite understand your argument in the last sentence.

It doesn't matter one way or the other, Sony still wins.Originally posted by: JackBurton
