PS3 God of War Collection...worth it?

I only played GoW 3 on the PS3 and I thought it was a lot of fun.The stages and bosses in that game were epic in my opinion.... I never played any of the other games before and wanted to know if the earlier games were similar to the 3rd installment

The first two PS2 games were definitely good, can't comment on the two PSP titles that were also later ported to the PS3. On the whole, it doesn't seem like they messed with the formula much gameplay wise, so if you liked 3 and want more of the same, then you probably can't go too wrong.

Yes.
I still haven't played III, but have played Chains of Olympus & 1.
Am planning to play through the entire series soon, am certain when I make my way around to 3, that it will be nothing less than stellar compared to what I've already played so far.

Go for both original Collection & Origins Collection if you want to check out all there is to offer.

With Ascension coming out soon, I'm finding myself getting very excited. I rarely get games on release day anymore, but I may have to for this one. Last time I did was Crysis.
From playing multiplayer beta so far, MP is shaping up to be pretty fucking badass!

For me, I found God of War pretty good in spurts. The gameplay gets very repetitive if you don't pace yourself between games. I'm not sure how long it has been since you played GoW3, but playing some of the earlier ones too soon afterwards will probably sour you on not only the gameplay but also the lessened scope (especially on the PSP titles).

I also haven't played the PSP games, but the third title is certainly the best. And I agree that it wouldn't even be fun to marathon 5 games of the same series like that. Though it would be a good buy if you just play one every few months so it doesn't get stale.

The PS2 games are very good, and the collection ports are excellent. Especially the second one.

The PSP games are just....good. The scale isnt nearly as epic though....a lot fewer enemies on the screen, shorter and simpler. They're enjoyable if you're really into GoW, but I wouldnt start with them.

If you do want to follow the story chronologically, run with this.
Chains of Olympus - Ascension - 1 - Ghost of Sparta - 2 - 3

Playing any games in a series back to back is rarely a good idea applied to most games, not just this alone.

Even just playing the two in either collection back to back is pretty tiring. The games are very repetitious and follow almost the exact same formula.

I am going to pick up the Saga collection since it comes with all 5 games, but I am going to break it up with some far cry, infamous 1 and 2 since I never completed them, and finally finish uncharted 3. With all those games, I should stay busy until some of the bigger games in the spring.

I grabbed it the other day. Best Buy reward zone gamer zone or whatever it is called has a $20 coupon for it, so I got it for $19.99. I played GoW I on the PS2 and half of GoWIII. I'm going to go back and play through those again and looking forward to the PSP titles.

Someone informed me that Saga was going for something like $10-15 during Black Friday. Kind of mad I didn't see it. Found out well after the fact that I got Collection. But now I need Origins & III.
Shitty how they shaft consumers with Origins only being included as DLC voucher though.

Not in a big rush to continue the series until after I've played through Ascension.
Wouldn't mind playing COO again, while waiting for Ascension. But having played through several times many years ago on PSP, I could pass on playing again for the however many times it's been.
