Yes, according to this post from PS3 Fanboy.

A tipster from the Home beta took a snapshot of this recent thread in the beta message board. A bug affecting Home users got a response from the Home Manager, "TedtheDog." The bug currently freezes PS3 systems running the beta and also gives users sporadic Network errors. He says that the bug will be fixed in an upcoming system software update. "2.5 is what we're waiting for and 'October' is what I've heard, later October is my guess."

The firmware update will also be released in conjunction with Home version 1.00, according to the post. Currently, the beta is at version 0.98. The simultaneous release of firmware 2.50 and Home 1.00 has us thinking that perhaps this could mark the beginning of the wide release of Home. Stay tuned.

Update: Since writing this article, the PS.blog has updated about the expansion of the Home beta. More invites are being sent to users right now. The continued growth of the beta adds even more weight to the possibility that the final version of Home will be available next month.

Sony expanded the Home beta yesterday as well.

oooooOOO

Hope so. A full stable release of Home prior to Resistance 2 would be great, especially if its around the time of Littlebigplanet. Only reason being, these two titles are going to bring more attention to the system around their release date, and Home finally being out, plus free PSN, purty store, and everything else... big big deal.
Hopefully 2.5 includes voice chat, as that's really the last big 'feature' that some gamers are missing. I for one don't care, but anything to help make the PS3 more popular and sell more. The more PS3 sells, the more attention developers will give it and thus games get crazy. :)

Second Life for the PS3....there's more (and less) in the comparison but that's probably the quickest and easiest comparison to make.

home is like a second life clone. and just like SL, there's a lot of hype but no one you know actually plays it...
i've been a beta tester since the beginning and there's really nothing to do inside...

I may be wrong on this but I believe I downloaded an update 2 days ago which added the voice chat feature. I will check and verify that but im almost positive I saw a voice chat option after the update.
