PS3 EB Preorder ?s

I have been looking at the threads around here and cannot find an answer to this question. According to the memo that was released to EB/Gamestop:

Stores are not allowed to reserve above their assigned reservation allocation for any reason. Reserving above your assigned qty can result in disciplinary action.

Also to quote queasy:

Also, check your receipt. Across from the Date/Time stamp there is a series of numbers that represent the store number and your place in the pre-order. The last three digits represent where you are in the pre-order queue. Mine says <store#>/01 - 002 so I've got seconds. Since I was actually first in line at the store, that means only one system was reserved by a store employee.

Mine states: 04544/01 - 023, which means I am 23rd. What I don't understand is that most people are saying their stores will be getting ~16. However above it states they are not allowed to take reservations above their assigned quantity. Does this mean they expect at least 23!? The stupid employee wouldn't tell me what number I was nor how many they were expecting, so none of this adds up...

Just to note (I found this out later) - the 023 likely represents how many times that register has been rung up during the day. Since the PS3 preorder transactions are the first of the day, it makes sense that you can use that to figure out where you are at in the preorder line. However, if they rung up other items or had store employees ringing up PS3s for themselves, that is another question.

Where were you at in line for the PS3 preorders?

If you feel like you are getting scammed, call the Gamestop Corporate Customer Service Number.

I have no idea. The boneheaded employee would not say ANYTHING about what number I was, or how many people had preordered already. The only thing I could pull out of him was that I was not the first. I got there an hour and forty-five minutes after the store opened.

You're probably fine. I would call the store and would ask to speak to a manager if you're really concerned -but I bet that number isnt competely dependable on what number you're on, in the PS# pre-order queue.

Well can they tell me what preorder number I am? He acted like he wasn't allowed to, yet everyone else on FW and ATOT have said they knew which number they where and how many their store was getting.

Yep, if you arrived an hour and 45 minutes late after the store opened...that is an hour and 45 minutes worth of other transactions being rung up on that register. For you. Runes911, don't go by the number on the receipt.

🙂

Yes, yes I know but when they do that no one reads it because it end up being 100+ posts long and VERY hard to sort through since the search will only show you the thread not the individual posts. The search doesn't work very well as it is anyhow...

what a joke. 16 units per store? i only found out before lunch, just went into a GS near work (norwalk CT) and the manager almost laughed at me, "i had a whole line camped out this morning"

wow. so many ebay scalpers even in the elite rich state of connecticut? wow.

Should, but do they HAVE to? Maybe I will wait for the other employees who i've spoke with before. This one seemed new and he was a total @$$.
