I heard they are even dropping the real time weapon change.

One of the biggest innovations isn't even going to make it to this generation. I always thought real time weapon change was far to advaced anyway. Just a pipedream.

I guess I missed this "real time weapon change" thing. What in the world does that even mean?

I'll take this with an entire canister of salt. The guy asking questions doesn't even know that the speed is supposed to be 3.2, not 3.5, and the guy answering doesn't correct him, so this just sounds bogus to me.

Also, what are you talking about real-time weapon change?

A little past 2:50 they talk about it. You can even see the weapon change right before your eyes :D

In seriousness though if the CPU speed decrease is true then they must really be having some bad yield problems. Iv'e heard that before. So it's possible it's true that they are slowing them down to get them out the door with decent yields by the holidays.

I'm guessing it's sarcastic.

On topic, Sony makes me sad. At this very point, whether this bit of rumor is true or not, they [Sony] are making a muck out of the PS3. From Sony's always over-the-top hype machine, to the high cost of the console, to rampant rumors about EVERYTHING, it's just looking dire for an ordinary gamer like myself. Somehow, it now seems like Sony is playing catch-up, when they should still have an air of being top dog.

Who the hell is overseeing the PS3?

Yeah sorry I was just being sarcastic. It's just there have been so many blows the PS3's features it's getting crazy. Thought I'd throw in some humor there. It was just funny that they mentioned the real time weapon change at the Sony Conference as if it was a unique new feature. And now if more things are dropped the humor just seemed to fit in with how rediculous it's getting :)

Wow. I always hated how in Half-Life 2, if you wanted to change weapons you had to exit the game, edit the configuration file, reboot the computer, download the new weapon graphics, reboot again, and load your game back up.. This will make that process so much better!

It was never 3.5GHz. That site has it's information wrong. The processor is to be released at a clock speed of 3.2GHz. Therefore, I don't believe a single word of that site.

Additionally, for those who are whining about the price, PS3 is a HUGE bang for the buck. It just pisses me off. Just compare the specs to the 360. It's more than a huge gap. So, if you want to be left behind with watered down versions of games, take the 360 route. Otherwise, be a man and quit whining about a seriously wonderful deal you are getting from the PS3.

wow aren't you just the perfect little sony fanboy.

Dude, the truth doesn't always lie in the spec sheet. Compare the games themselves sometime. The graphics of both systems are very similar, in some cases teh 360 proves to be better. Need a mention more than the underwhelmed response of reporters to the PS3 games on the E3 showroom floor?

And just an FYI, I don't own a 360 and don't plan to.

In the video the guy claims "real time weapon changing" to be a feature in the game, as if that isn't something that has been done since wolfenstein 3D. Slick was being sarcastic

I personally have been expecting a downgrade. Sony hasn't released a system yet that didn't receive a downgrade or three in the process from hype to ship.

In the ghetto weapon changing is done by pushing the mouse wheel forward.

sony likes to rely on peoples short memories:p

remember it was going to be massively distributed computing, ur games rendering boosted by someone elses ps3 across the net, and the cell processor in ur fridge too!

and yea i use the numbers or q for weaps. i just don't trust the wheel enough. too easy to slip too far, and takes too long:p

looks like PS3 will be almost on par with the XB360. doesn't look like it'll be able to do 1080p either.

I use F for last weapon used, mouse wheel for switching between primary/pistol/knife, and numbers for grenades and C4. this is all for CSSource, btw.

I have no idea if the info in that "interview" is correct or not. So the interviewer said 3.5 and the "insider" didn't correct him, it happens. The "insider" did refer to low yields of 3.2 parts, he never mentions 3.5. He says that PS3 might use 2.8GHz chips, and that the units at E3 used 2.8GHz chips. He didn't say a final spec change has happened; he is just saying this is where they are at today.

Value is subjective. Obviously to you, what you get in a PS3 is worth $500-$600. Great, it's your money, if you want a PS3, buy one. For many of us though, it's not worth that price. This is no different than any other item we buy everyday. This doesn't have anything to do with whining or being a man.

I agree that this is hardly a credible source. However, low yields on a new CPU aren?t hard to believe. Having trouble with heat, and thus moving the power source outside isn't hard to believe either. This doesn't mean I take this interview as fact, just that these two things seem reasonable.

We don't really know what the PS3 will be like. I don't care if it uses a 2.8GHz chip or one clocked at 3.2. I don't care if the power source is internal or external. If it offers superior game play, I won't be thinking about clock speeds and power bricks. If it doesn't offer superior game play, many of us will look to spend our money elsewhere.

Yeah hilarious how much people forget. 3.5GHz I believe was actually announced over a year ago, then it was dropped to 3.2GHz which this guy is referring to in the article, as one promise already not kept. I remember the distributed network bullsh!t that was spouted off initially, hilarious that it actually made it to reputable news media.
