My friend brings his PS3 over here so we can play it online/download demos. He has a SDTV and connects using the component cables at home.
We have an HDMI cable here to connect to my HDTV.
When he connected the PS3 here at my house, it automatically detected the "optimal" settings and set it for 1080i. He says when he takes it to another friend's house, it doesn't automatically detect the settings and they get no picture on the screen.
Is there something I'm missing here or shouldn't the same thing happen on a different TV? Or is this an HDMI-only setting that doesn't work over component? But he had to bring the TV back to my house to lower the settings so it will work somewhere else.
