Ok so the guys literaly have a YEAR, a fricken YEAR, to work on this console, and it comes out at a time where the PC will be packed with hardware equal if not better to the console.

Why not upgrade that 3.2ghz cell(equal to the xbox, wtf?) and improve the memory. This hardware wouldn't take long to implement and test. So come on, lets petition them to work more!!!

They're loosing enough money selling it for $300
a PC with the same level of hardware will cost probably $1000

Why should they do that? PS3 games is going to run and look far better than PC games, even if the PC hardware has somehow managed to catchup with the PS3 specs. The bottom line is that PC games can never enjoy the same level of optimization of console games. Can you run Doom3 acceptably with a P3 733MHz and Geforce3 and only 64MB if RAM? No. But the Xbox with the same hardware could do so, just to illustrate my point a bit.

They're not being lazy. It takes a LONG time to develope a product. At the company I work for, it takes over 3 years to go from the drawing board to a real radio. It's not because they're lazy, it's just there's a lot of stuff to do.

That's why life span of PS1 was 6 years
(1994-2000)
PS2's lifespan was also 6 years
(2000-2006)

At 640x480 you could come close to running Doom 3 acceptably.
"If" PC hardware has caught up?
Both ATi and nVidia will have already release new products by the time the PS3 launches, and the new nVidia product may be similar to what's in the PS3 (like the XBox and GF3/GF4) and we will have dual core processors.

There's a real test which will show superiority, and that's going to be Unreal Engine 3. It will (IMO) be the thing, as it's cross platform, designed with next gen in mind, and should push PC's to their limits (I hope).

I wouldnt trust Sony they often have cut back on the abilities of a game console or device based on what they claimed it was going to be able to do at a preview or an announcement for the press.
