PS3 - Booting to game disk

Before the last update I was able to turn on my PS3 and it would automatically boot-up and run the disk in the drive. Also if I was on the menu screen I could swap disks and it would also auto-run the disk.

After the last update neither function works. I have to manually click over to the games and then the disk in drive.

Any help with this problem?

There's a disc auto start setting somewhere, I can't remember exactly where, but if you weed through the System Settings, you should hopefully find it. I'm @ work right now or I'd take a look.

Also not sure why a system update would disable it, other than Sony always wanting you to see the "What's New" section on startup.

I just checked in the System Setting and there is setting for disc auto start and it is turned on. Still will not boot to a game disk.

That's just weird then. Maybe give Sony support a call, see if they have any ideas. I'm tapped out beyond the standard "unplug the unit for 20 minutes and plug it back in to see if that resolves the problem" stuff that never works.

But hey, you're doing better than Tim Schafer, his 60GB model won't read PS3 discs at all.

Try maybe changing the setting to off and then turn it back on.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. I personally hate that feature, so I leave it off and never use it. That's why I'm not 100% sure if a new firmware broke it or something. I would think that other people would have made a fuss about it not working by now though.

Maybe you need to turn off the new "what's new" thing? My PS3 goes to that now instead of the last game demo or disc in the drive but I haven't gotten around to killing it yet.
