PS3 black screen when loading game

Hey folks, I booted up MGS4 last night but when I loaded the game, the screen stayed black... went for a glass of water, came back -- still black. I couldn't turn off the PS3 via controller or even power button. Had to toggle the switch on the back of the PS3 to get it to work again. Then everything worked perfectly.

Anyone ever had this happen to them?

I've had it lock up like that every great once in a while, but was able to just hold my finger on the power button on the front for a minute.

Its done it a couple of times for me, where I could do nothing without turning it off in the back.

They call that a freeze. Has been happening since the beginning of videogame time.
You used to have to blow on cartridges! Cavemen! :laugh:

Just wondering how common it is -- have been hearing so much about RROD and YLOD
Made me nervous.

Had this happen to me with Disgaea 3 last night. A quick reset with the power button solved the problem.

The Wii does the same thing to me sometimes, too. My 360 doesn't, but then again, it's dead with an E74 atm, so it has no room to talk. ;-)
