PS3 Available in September

Next Generation can reveal that Sony is planning to launch an online games service, largely modelled on Xbox Live, currently called PlayStation HUB. We also understand Sony is aiming for a September launch for PlayStation 3 in Japan and North America.

ENOS lives? Too bad September 9th is a Saturday.

Wow, so MS has got a year's head start on em. So far, it doesn't look like that Dreamcast failure of a headstart.

Considering the rumors that Halo3 is coming out on the same day to steal ps3's thunder, does that mean Halo 3 in sept? 🙁

Halo games freaking blow.

I will, however, be looking forward to the PS3.

IMHO Halo's nowhere near big enough to steal PS3's thunder. Maybe if it was a new Mario, Zelda, and Metroid all in the same day.

Agreed. Halo isn't very fun, innovative, or long.

I'll be pre-ordering two PS3's so that I can sell one to pay for both.

that'll only work if it is indeed pretty much a global launch all in that same month, and the hardware production cannot keep up with sales. like the ps2 launch and x360 launch. if its a massive launch with enough product on the shelves, forgot about that plan. 😉

i want to do the same thing (except more than just 2)... but will have to see if that is an option.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody started pre-selling these?
no.. that wont happen till maybe a few months before launch, and that launch is guaranteed

Every place I checked isn't preselling but just putting you on a list to be notified of when you can reserve one.

If this info is correct, you're looking at a simultaneous launch in 2 regions with brand new hardware that even today isn't being produced on a massive level. Also, considering it's a launch, no company is dumb enough to produce way more than needed to sit on the shelves. It gets cheaper by the day for Sony to produce each console so they will be supplying what they think they can get away with (assuming they even have the parts to build them).

I will guarantee these will be going for good money on the net. No doubt. Even still, keep your receipt and it's a no lose situation. I paid off my 360 (and accessories, games, etc) and had money left over after buying 6 of them on and around launch.

Thanks for the quick answer.

One more question, I've never had to 'pre-order' a console system. What is the best place(s) to pre-order from? I have GameStop, BlockBuster Gamerush, and the normal retail outlets near me.

You guys are definetely the minority. The second game wasn't near as good, but the first game is pretty much legendary. I don't know anybody, personally, who doesn't down right love the first Halo. I've personally beat it 10+ times and it never got old.

yea to build a one time use excess factory capacity to totally satisfy launch is just stupid. there will always be shortages.

people gotta stop with the dreamcast. sega isn't microsoft. sega had already made a series of stupid decisions that left them bleeding money. a small company compared to ms to begin wtih, it didnt take all that much mroe to push them off the ledge. ms on the other hand has cash reserves that dwarf sonys

Why don't you just max out all your CCs to pre-order PS3s so you can buy a Porsche Turbo S from the profit?

Damn, I'm tempted.

Most analyst I've been reading lately are predicting a late fall launch, probably more likely October/November. If they get it out by September I'll be surprised.
