Was going to play God of War 1 off the collection disk today after everyone left from Easter lunch. The console was somehow on, but I started up the game, played for a few minutes and then the PS3 kept switching the video/audio like the HDMI was being quickly connected/disconnected. Reset the console and was able to start up the game, and it happened again. Even just sitting at the PS3 main screen, it was having issues. Is this the beginning of a failure or could this have been caused by over heating? I know it was rather hot in the house (80F) and the system was probably on for awhile. Any other suggestions?
 
Try a video reset, shut the PS3 down then hold the power button for about 10 seconds when turning it back on. You'll hear a beep and it'll ask you to reconfigure your settings. If the screen still flickers try a different cable if you have one. If that doesn't fix the problem something probably went apeshit and I guess you'll need a repair.
