PS3 40gb vs 80gb differences?

So, online on the sony site, besides the obvious Hard drive difference, the 80gb version offers 4 usb 2.0 ports and the 40gb version has only 2usb 2.0 ports.

i have heard that the 40gb can play fewer PS2 games than the 80gb.

Does anyone know any more details? Why such differences if the video hardware is the same?

The 40gb PS3 does not play any PS2 games.

The PS2's gpu is not emulated by software. The 80gb PS3 has the physical gpu inside, in addition to the newer gpu used in PS3 games.

The 80gb can do software emulation for ~85% of PS2 games. Its the earlier 20 and 60 gb models that had the ps2 hardware built into them.

Yep. the 40 and 80 do not do HW emu. The 40 only has Ps1 emu and NO ps2 at all. The 80 has ps1 and some ps2 EMU.
