I just got my PS3 40GB today. The trim looks like polished aluminum. This looks better than the cheap-looking silver trim on my bro's 60GB PS3. The base section that holds up the oval section is also missing ventilation holes. It says, "I'm rugged, yet classy. I can still kick ass when on standby."

might want to return it and wait for the white 40gb PS3.. because apparently it's gonna come in at $299. one Best Buy already began selling them, although the store claims it is a 'manager
s special' price, and only available at that store. ??? Strange, but basically confirms the 40gb PS3 will be $299 (wonder if only for the white model, which some are claiming will be a limited edition. Cool seeing a limited edition end up being cheaper). link
hmm, strange thing, is that was posted on 03JAN08... why that price at that time? And obviously not the white model.

damn that place is only a few miles from here at work. Wish I knew about it when it was going on. For $300 I'd have a PS3 right now.

I'm not a Halo fan by any means, but this post makes me wonder if he knows that Halo 3 sold 4.8 million units last year, and CoD4 sold 3 million (and CoD4 is multi-platform for that matter).

Got mine for $370 and it came with Ratchet & Clank and an HDMI cable, so if it were true, I'd still be happy. Not sure about white though. It'll look cleaner, but not as sleek; the dust showed up on mine an hour after de-boxing it🙁.

There is no Blu-Ray player that can touch the PS3 @ $399. The only real thing the PS3 can't do (yet) is DTS HD-MA, bitstream or IR (without a hack). But you won't find a Blu-Ray player that can do it at $399 either. At least with the PS3 there is a chance you'll get it in a firmware upgrade in the future that will include those features (excluding the IR functionality).
