I have a Netgear MA101 USB 802.11 adapter and I was wondering if there was anyway possible to get my PS2 online using a wireless connection.

It might sound ridiculous but it's worth a shot.

I have neither a PS2 or a wireless internet connection, but I would guess no. The PS2 most likely wouldn't know how to communicate with the hardware, since Netgear doesn't make PS2 drivers.

So the next step is getting the PS2 to run Linux!!! :D

To play games that are designed to play online: probably

To browse the web: most likely not (i'm pretty sure there is no ps2 web browser)

There is an ethernet adapter out for ps2 now, but I seem to remember that before this came out people were using USB adapters to get the ps2 online. I'm not sure about wireless though, do wireless adapters need special drivers?

I use a Netgear USB network adaptor to play Madden 2003 and NBA Live 2003 online. I think there's only a couple brands and models that are compatible as a PS2 online adaptor, and luckily my roommate owned one. Dunno about a wireless one though.

I think you might be out of luck using an aftermarket wireless USB NIC, but this FAQ tells you how to make it work wirelessly WITH the Sony BB adapter. :)

I'm hoping to pick up the PS2 BBA soon, so thanks for the link N8Magic :)

777php, your issue seems like it's too complex to work :( If you do get it working, please let us know as I have what's needed to have a wireless network at the moment, but no reason for one.

So do you need to have some sort of setup disc or something if you are using an adapter other than Sony's BBA? Because I have a USB network adaptor, but i never thought to try that to get online.
